Some more important information regarding the Bluffs Grand Ho Tram are here in the Questionnaire given below!

Q. How did the natural landscape and surroundings influence the course design?

The natural landscape was the main influence on the golf course design.

Q. Were there any specific architectural styles or inspirations that informed the design?

The bluffs on the golf course were the inspiration for design, hence our name.

Q. How did you balance the need for a challenging golf course with preserving the natural beauty of the site?

The golf course is a great test and very challenging from the pro tees and with multiple tee boxes, it suits any standard of golfer.

Q. Specific Design Elements and Features

The greens and the sand dunes are what makes this course such a challenge.

Q. Can you elaborate on the unique design features of the course, such as bunkers, water hazards, and greens?

With only 1 water hazard on the golf course, the dunes and the wind are what make this course a real test.  Getting out of position and into the dunes can really destroy a scorecard.  The greens are very undulating and accuracy with approach shots is paramount.

Q. How did you incorporate the local topography and terrain into the course layout?

The local topography and terrain really lent themselves to the golf course design.  A lot of the natural features across the property have been maintained and the golf course blends in seamlessly.

Q. What were the challenges and opportunities presented by the coastal location in terms of design?

The wind direction affected design enormously.   There are 2 seasonal winds here which switch 180 degrees depending on the season.    This means there 2 distinctly different golf courses depending on the time of year which you play.

Q. How did you ensure that the course is visually appealing and aesthetically pleasing from all angles?

This was perhaps the easiest of tasks, with the flowing dunes, forest, and ocean all playing a role.  The back 9 holes are the most visually attractive, with more elevation changes giving stunning ocean back drops.

Q. Were there any sustainability considerations or practices incorporated into the design and construction?

A lot of the materials used were sourced on site for the construction of the property. grasses chosen are drought-tolerant, as are the surrounding fauna across the property.   All of the vegetation and naturally occurring grasses in the area have been left in place to ensure we are sustainable and utilising the natural environment.

Q. How do you maintain the course’s appearance and condition while minimising environmental impact?

Again, this comes down to the initial design and construction processes.   Native grasses and shrubs have all been used and not foreign species were introduced to the property, minimising the environmental impact.

Q. What is the take on guest experience and aesthetics?

Guests are always blown away when first seeing the property.   The golf course simply sits inside the natural dunes and the course looks like its been here for many decades.   The conditioning of the golf course being finely manicured against the rugged dunes really gives great contrast and stunning aesthetics.

Q. How did you design the course to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels?

The design of the course really plays great for every level of golfer.  The top pros in the world, like Sergio Garcia (winner of the of the Ho Tram Open), loved the course and was challenged by the back-pro tees.  Alternatively, playing from any of the other multiple tee boxes available makes it enjoyable for the best of amateur golfers to the new novice golfers.  This is a testament to great course design, making a golf course enjoyable and challenging for any level of golfer.

Q. What factors did you consider when designing the clubhouse and other amenities to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the resort?

The clubhouse is situated at the highest point of the golf course, with the restaurant offering some of the best views out to the golf course and across the ocean that I’ve ever experienced.  Having lunch in the clubhouse is truly an experience for golfers and non-golfers alike. The clubhouse offers all amenities that golfers wishing to enjoy a luxury experience would hope for, with fine dining, luxury shower/locker rooms, VIP rooms, a cigar lounge, as well as a fully stocked pro shop.

Q. How do you ensure that the course’s design and maintenance contribute to a positive and relaxing atmosphere for guests?

The maintenance of the golf course is the key to the golfer’s experience.  We cater for whatever event we are hosting.  On normal days with the green undulations, we do have the green speeds around 10–11 feet, which is manageable for most golfers yet still fast.  When we host professional events or major amateur events, we push the green speeds 12 feet upwards to really test the elite golfers.
