New Designers in India to Look Forward to

These designers may not be a part of magazines yet, but it’s time to add them up on your fashion wardrobe. From Russian silhouettes to sustainable fabrics, they are merging the glocal look with a new impression.

Let’s have a look at upcoming India’s fashion.

1. JAYANTI REDDY

A Management student from Hyderabad, pursuing her passion in the fashion industry, Jayanti Reddy made her way at the Lakme Fashion Week spring/summer 2016. The self-taught designer focuses on a style that represents a woman which is traditional yet modern. Her eponymous label is inspired by elements of surprise, newness, and re-imagining Indian Fashion. Jayanti bats for light and breathable fabric but also loves drama and detail. Her collection ‘Siaa‘ was based on re-imagining the past through the use of organic cotton, woven silks, and naturally dyed prints. Meanwhile, the designer is coming up with her new inspirations and experiments with styles while managing to work with Indian textiles and weavers.

2. AUR

Before starting his own label AUR, NIFT graduate Ajay Kumar Singh worked at Yash Raj Films and Channel V. His collection at Lakme Fashion Week showcased a wide range of handloom, digital-prints patch works and surface techniques. Singh’s style of work is unique and kind. He works with children with intellectual and mental disabilities, converting their ideas and patterns into graphics and textures.

3. NEHA AGARWAL

Graduated from London college of Fashion, Neha Agarwal has worked with Manish Malhotra. At Lakme Fashion Week 2014, she debut her own label, NEZ that originally focuses on power dressing. Those who aspire to be in spotlight, this label is perfect for you, as her designs are definitely eye- catchy. One of her collection “From Russia With love” is a unique blend of Russian styles and motifs with Indian fabrics and techniques.

4. YAVI

Yavi is a fashion and accessory label that pays homage to both art and handloom. Yadvi Agarwal, founder and designer of Yavi described her designs as a place where art meets fashion to create a new aesthetic in worn impressionism. It is expected to see the label’s signature hand-painted jackets which is made by layers of printing blocks and objects and the beautiful touch of one- thread embroidery, sets the stage.

5. ANAND KABRA

Kabra’s designs show off an aesthetic blend of heritage and modernism. His self-own label offers time-to-time outfits from an ethos that values instinct, emotions, intimacy, and feminity. His designs represent a mixture game of the sensual and deep with the help of traditional color palette of beige, midnight blue, maroon and ivory highlighted with gold. Anand Kabra fashion works reside in Hyderabad.
