First Kerala kitchen and urban quarter bar in Mumbai, Kerala Quarters, is a short walk away from Majiwada-Popatlal Lane bus stop.
Coming out of Flavour Pot Foods is the new destination Kerala Quarters, where food and flavors of every nook and corner of India come alive. Sited at the heart of Mumbai, Kerala Quarters invites guests into a taste of Kerala through regional flair and atmosphere resembling Kerala’s famous toddy shops. Founded by Pankaj Gupta, this is an urban bar promising guests to take them back into Kerala’s deep heritage. And this authenticity was experienced by Mr. Yogesh Dalal and Mrs. Payal Dalal.
Ambiance:
A Slice of Kerala Inviting Kerala Quarters brings to you the rustic and cozy ambiance all the way from Kerala, inspired from Kerala’s iconic toddy shops, which makes it look authentic amidst the bustling streets of Mumbai with dim lighting and earthy tones. It is intimate and perfect for small groups that can be made to sit together and share the quaint experience of being unlike anything in Kerala and of each other. Adding the quaint touches some locally inspired elements would throw in, all about Kerala, set the whole piece for that totally authentic dinner.
Feast of Best Kerala Flavours
The highlight, however, was undoubtedly the food – a lovingly put together feast courtesy Brand Chef Sudheesan, who has brought out Kerala’s coastal and regional specialties to the fore. From the spiky Panni Ularthiyathu, a Kerala style pork fry, to the lip-smacking Malabar Fried Fish, authenticity and bold flavors have infused love into each dish with care. Fresh ground spices and traditional cooking styles lavish a wide variety of signature dishes, from Chemmeen Koonthal Tawa Roast to Puttu and Chemmeen Manga Curry, with the creativity from Kerala’s Malabar coast. There was no scarcity for seafood aficionados, and each morsel was distinct in flavours and style of cooking that one can find from Kerala.
Starters and Cocktails with an Undercurrent of Kerala
Nothing would be totally complete from this Kerala Quarters without introducing its creativity behind cocktails like Agave and Vadagam & Pisco Rice . The drink menu was an innovative concoction of ingredients that would even get the tongues of Kerala locals singing, capturing the soul of toddy shops in its “Quarters” servings. There were “touchings” to go with every cocktail, small traditional bites inspired by Kerala and meant to be shared with one’s companions, making for an unforgettable experience—an epitome of the culture of sharing and generous hospitality of Kerala.
A Night to Remember
Kerala Quarters ended this evening just exactly to satisfaction and joy, so guests as they leave could taste a little of Kerala’s soul. Authenticity in food, inspired cocktails, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere promise to be a new addition to Mumbai’s food scene-one that invites patrons to experience Kerala in all its freshness and flavour.
