Green Mantis: All Day Unique Asian Vegetarian Menu

Green Mantis: All Day Unique Asian Vegetarian Menu

Located in New Delhi’s Khan Market, Green Mantis cafe and bar deviates from the capital’s usual Asian fare by offering a fully vegetarian menu that includes flavours from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Japan and many more places. Green Mantis at Khan Market deviates from the usual Asian fare by offering a vegetarian, plant-based menu. And here is what we had: Green Mantis Location and Ambience: Located on the side streets of Khan Market, on the ground floor, stepping into Green Mantis silences the hustle and bustle of the market as soon as I enter. Small square frames decorate the wood-panelled walls on either side of the staircase, and vibrant fabrics line the seat’s walls after that. The love for green is quite obvious at first glance. Potted plants rise against the corners, upholstered wooden chairs and a sofa provide seating, and bright paintings inspired by nature stand out against the white brick wall. Of course, the visible green cricket pitch complements the cosy setting, and I simultaneously absorbed the zen all around me. Drinks, Starters and main course: Green Mango Togarashi: I began by ordering a drink: Green Mango Togarashi (you can also call it Aam Panna) with traditional Japanese Togarashi flakes (Shichimi flakes). The spicy Aam panna drink features an umami twist, giving the concoction a sweet, roasted, almost earthy flavour. Passion Fruit Peach Mint:  That tag of passion fruit, sweetness from peach and refreshing mint were mixed in one super drink. In the musty heat of New Delhi, this was a must-have. Raw Chilli Mango: This combination of raw mango and chilli is a flavour explosion waiting to happen. The tangy spiciness of ripe mango playfully meets the fiery heat of chilli, creating a sweet and spicy dance on the tongue. It’s a classic street food experience—an uplifting moment that’s both refreshing and addictive, leaving you yearning for more. Quick starter snack with 6 types of dips   Immerse yourself in the flavours with this quick and easy appetiser! Have these 6 delicious dips with a crackling snack, perfect for anyone. From creamy classics to fiery salsas, there’s something exciting for every taste. Get ready for a flavour fest with this good spread! Som Tam Salad  A Thai salad symphony! This refreshing dish is full of sweet, salty, sour and spicy notes. Shredded green papaya takes centre stage, complemented by crunchy vegetables, spicy lime sauce and hot chilli. It’s an adventure for the taste buds with every bite! Sweet Corn and Shallots  The sunny flavour of the sweet corn gets a salty boost from the caramelised shallots. A quick and tasty side dish full of fresh summer vibes. The natural sweetness of the corn meets the caramelised depth of the shallots. This simple side dish brightens up any meal. Forget plain corn! This dish uses shallots to open up the flavour to a new level, caramelising their sweetness with the corn for a pleasant surprise. Ema Danchi Ting No Ema Danchi Ting No is a spicy Bhutanese dish made with Ema (chilli), Datsi (cheese) and other vegetables. It is a very common dish in Bhutan and it might be something that you must try. Gunman Maki Sushi and Midori Roll Sushi: Gunman maki Sushi was definitely special! A terriffic compilation of Nori pickled vegetables, avacado, wasabi peas and wasabi Mayo. Midori Roll Sushi was a tangy spinach and cucumber pickled roll, giving your taste buds a roll for the texture. Tofu Bao Tofu bao is a blank canvas for your taste buds. Fill them with delicious sauces, pickled vegetables and fresh herbs for a good bite. Pillow-like steamed buns filled with salty tofu. A handheld taste experience is perfect for a quick lunch or a satisfying snack. Kirk Dimsum It is a dish that just bursts into flavour in your mouth in one bite. Oyster Motoyaki They are made from royal oyster mushrooms and have a meaty texture similar to oysters. Tear them into bite-sized pieces and marinate them in a light soy sauce or vegetable broth for added flavour. With vegan mayonnaise. Jackfruit Rendang: Jackfruit rendang is a vegan version of the classic Indonesian dish rendang, which traditionally uses beef. Jackfruit, with its fleshy texture when young and ripe, is an excellent substitute that soaks up the rich and flavorful rendang curry beautifully. Curry Dagang A delicious tofu curry with fenugreek and ginger-scented rice is served to wake up all your senses to a new tasteful world. Kelepong  Ending with dessert is the sweetest note for a wonderful meal. Crispy sticky rice with caramelised coconut, and it gives you a coconut jaggery ice cream.   When it comes to the food at Green Mantis, it is 70% vegan and 100% vegetarian. The USP of the Green Mantis is that every ingredient is bought locally. There are many Asian restaurants in Delhi, but almost none of them offer a vegetarian menu. That is why the Green Mantis wants to stand out as an exception. And the experience of having wonderful vegan and vegetarian food was simply amazing.     Disclaimer: This is a personal dining experience of Ms. Shrishti Jaiswal. Mastering Time Management For Greater Productivity

Mastering Time Management For Greater Productivity

Time management has always been an important part of utilising your day with a 24-hour schedule. Feeling like there just aren’t enough hours in the day? You’re not alone. In our constantly connected, fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by to-do lists and ever-shrinking deadlines. But the good news is, you can take control! Mastering time management is the key to unlocking greater productivity and achieving your goals. This blog post will equip you with the tools and strategies you need to become a time-management ninja. We’ll explore: Why time management matters Understanding your work style Prioritisation techniques Creating effective schedules Taming distractions Building habits for long-term success Why Time Management Matters Time management isn’t just about squeezing more tasks into your day. It’s about taking charge of your time and using it strategically to achieve what truly matters. Here’s how effective time management benefits you: Reduced stress: Feeling constantly behind schedule is a major stressor. By taking control of your time, you’ll feel calmer and more in control. Increased productivity: When you prioritise effectively and eliminate distractions, you’ll get more done in less time. Improved work-life balance: Effective time management allows you to dedicate focused time to work while ensuring you have time for personal pursuits and relaxation. Enhanced focus: By planning your day and minimising distractions, you can train your brain to stay focused on the task at hand. Greater sense of accomplishment: Completing tasks on time and achieving goals leads to a powerful sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Understanding Your Work Style The first step to mastering time management is understanding how you work best. Are you a morning lark who thrives on tackling complex tasks early, or a night owl who gets a second wind in the evening? Do you prefer working in short bursts or long, uninterrupted stretches? Recognising your natural rhythms allows you to schedule demanding tasks for your peak productivity times. Here are some questions to consider: What time of day do I feel most energised? Do I work better in short bursts or long stretches? Am I easily distracted by noise or movement? Do I prefer working alone or collaboratively? By understanding your preferences, you can create a work environment that optimises your productivity. Prioritisation Techniques Not all tasks are created equal. Effective time management hinges on prioritising ruthlessly. Here are two popular prioritisation frameworks to help you: The Eisenhower Matrix: This method categorises tasks based on urgency (important vs. not important) and importance (urgent vs. not urgent). Urgent and important tasks (e.g., deadlines) go in Quadrant 1 and should be tackled first. Quadrant 2 holds important but not urgent tasks (e.g., long-term projects). Schedule dedicated time for these. Quadrant 3 includes urgent but unimportant tasks (e.g., interruptions). Delegate or eliminate these whenever possible. Finally, Quadrant 4 houses tasks that are neither urgent nor important (e.g., social media scrolling). Eliminate these entirely.  The ABC Method: This approach prioritises tasks based on their impact. Assign an “A” to tasks that are critical to achieving your goals, “B” to tasks that are important but not essential, and “C” to less important tasks. Focus on completing A’s first, then move on to B’s, and delegate or eliminate C’s. Creating Effective Schedules Once you’ve prioritize your tasks, it’s time to create a schedule that reflects your priorities and work style. Here are some tips: Block scheduling: Divide your day into focused blocks dedicated to specific tasks. This helps you stay on track and minimize context switching, which can be a major productivity killer. Schedule time for breaks: While focused work is essential, don’t forget to schedule breaks throughout the day. Short breaks can help you recharge and refocus, leading to increased productivity in the long run. Be realistic. Don’t overload your schedule. Leave buffer time for unexpected tasks and allow room for flexibility. Use a calendar app: Choose a calendar app that integrates with your to-do list and allows you to set reminders and track deadlines. Taming Distractions Distractions are the enemy of productivity. Here are some strategies to keep them at bay: Silence notifications: Turn off email and social media notifications while you’re working on important tasks. Consider using tools that block distracting websites for set periods. Find a quiet workspace. If possible, work in a quiet, distraction-free environment. If you work in a noisy office, consider noise-canceling headphones. Let colleagues know: Inform your colleagues when you need focused work time and politely request they avoid interrupting you unless absolutely necessary. Building Habits for Long-Term Success Time management is a journey, not a destination. Here are some tips to build habits that will ensure your success in the long run: Start small: Don’t try to overhaul your entire schedule overnight. Begin by implementing one or two new strategies at a time. Once you’ve mastered those, you can gradually add more. Track your progress: Monitor your time-management habits. Are you sticking to your schedule? Are you prioritizing effectively? Regularly assess your progress and make adjustments as needed. Reward yourself! Celebrate your milestones! Completing a major project or consistently sticking to your schedule deserves a reward. This will help you stay motivated and on track. Embrace flexibility. Life happens. Unexpected events will inevitably arise. Be prepared to adjust your schedule accordingly while staying true to your overall priorities. Take care of yourself. Your physical and mental well-being are essential for sustained productivity. Ensure you’re getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, and taking breaks to recharge. Additional Time Management Techniques Here are some bonus time management techniques to explore: The Pomodoro Technique: Work in focused 25-minute intervals with short breaks in between. This approach helps maintain focus and prevent burnout. The Pareto Principle (80/20 Rule): Focus on the 20% of tasks that yield 80% of the results. Identify the high-impact tasks and prioritize them accordingly. Batching: Group similar tasks together to minimize context switching and improve efficiency. For example, dedicate a specific time block to answering emails or returning phone calls. Automation: Explore tools and apps

Taste Of Chettinad At The Taj MG Road Bangalore

Taste Of Chettinad At The Taj MG Road Bangalore

Chettinad cuisine comes from the rich lands of Tamil Nadu, presenting itself proudly in the culinary lands of Chettinad. The flavours are from the combined area of 76 villages and 2 towns in the combined community of Chettiar. The food is famous for its unique taste, which occurs due to the freshly ground spices like fenugreek, fennel seeds, cumin, cloves, bay leaf, tamarind and turmeric. This food is a complex of flavours and it creates more lustre through the addition of sundried flower pods. Gravies get the kick due to the ginger and garlic. The Chettinad Starters: Chicken Kothu paratha: I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a Chettinad pop-up at Taj MG Road, Chettinad Spice Route, by Chef Arjun. Chef Arjun prepares a delightful journey through this fascinating cuisine, offering a taste of both tradition and innovation. The experience started with getting our hands dirty—literally—in a fun and interactive Kothu paratha-making activity. A staple of Chettinad cuisine, these flaky breads are perfect for scooping up spicy curries. Chef Arjun’s expert guidance ensured that our parathas were not only delicious but also had a beautiful, layered texture. Chettinad Puddu There were Chef Arjun’s own special dishes. We enjoyed a nice chicken puddu – a fragrant and tasty chicken stew—and its vegetarian counterpart, veg Puddu. Both dishes had a typical Chettinad spice blend that was perfectly balanced with the abundance of meat and vegetables. Main Course: Chettinad Malli Mutton:  I also enjoyed a selection of other dishes that tantalised my taste buds. The Mutton curry, although the picture cannot be shared here, was a hearty and comforting dish, with the slow-cooked meat falling off the bone in a rich and delicious-spicy gravy. Chicken Varual Karaikudi Prawn Biryani: Karaikudi Prawn Biryani was authentic, full of flavour and the prawns were marinated to be cooked perfectly in the delicious and fragrant dish. Chettinad Chicken Curry The flavours were on point and the fiery spice combination was authentic too. I could taste the masala paste of garlic, chilli, ginger, and many other spices. Mangodi Papad Ki Sabji The mangodi papad ki sabzi stood out from the vegetarian experience. This spicy and delicious dish combined the crunchiness of lentil rolls (papad) with the flavor of vegetable curry made from ripe mangoes (mangodi). Sundakkai Athal Kolambu Beery Sundakkai puli kuzhambu is a delicious South Indian style kuzhambu made from fresh sundakkai. Sundakkai (Turkey berry) is crushed before cooking to reduce bitterness. This is a coconut puli kuzhambu that goes well with rice and Dosa. You can also make vathal kuzhambu from these berries. Kathirikai Murunkai Other delicious vegetarian dishes included tomato rice, kaali poriyal (fried cabbage), sundakkai athal kolambu beery (delicious and spicy tamarind-based gravy with Indian pork plum), kathirikai murunkai masala (brinjal and drumstick curry) and Tirunelveli Sodhi kolambu (tamarind). -based sauce with a sweet and sour flavour profile).  Sweet Dishes The culinary journey ended with wonderful, tasteful and authentic sweet dishes. There were Samayal, Chettinad Ukkarayi, Chettinad Pazha payasam and Kavuni Arisi.   All in all, the authenticity of the cuisine was kept intact in the presented dishes and it was a delightful time spent well at TAJ MG Road, Chettinad Buffet. The meal was a delightful exploration of South Indian cuisine. From fiery curries to tangy tamarind sauces, each dish offered a unique explosion of flavours and textures. Whether you are a regular spice enthusiast or a curious novice, TAJ promises a delicious and unforgettable culinary adventure.   Disclaimer: This is a personal dining experience of Shrishti Jaiswal and it is not a general review of the restaurant or the hotel.

It is just breathtaking!  This place is the best one to be at with friends and you can take your special partner and have an extraordinary date as well. This place is not just having a great ambience but it is also a haven for some of the most amazing vegetarian and non-vegetarian palettes. Here are a few things that you must try if you are coming down to this 4-story extravaganza. Let us ‘hop‘ into the bunny-tastic food and beverage selections. Mango Sushi: Doesn’t it sound unusual but to everyone’s surprise, it was mind-blowing with a fantastic taste fusion ! Sticky sushi rice seasoned with rice wine vinegar is usually used,  like a regular sushi. But the hero of the dish was the mango! A ripe mango is thinly sliced into long strips for the filling.. There is no added flavour in the dish and that’s why you taste everything fresh. Crispy Risotto Porcini Bites: Have your taste buds ready for this one-of-a-kind dish! Risotto bites were done to perfection; they were crispy and cheesy. These fried risotto balls took classic comfort food to a whole new level. These addictive bites were hard to resist, so it is best to order more (or keep them all to yourself). Nibble pockets of creamy boletus risotto, fried to a crisp. And the way it is brought to your table is just like a fairytale. Andhra Chilli Chicken Tacos: This was a very spicy concoction with a touch of Andhra flavours, placed on small tacos at the bottom. The chicken is marinated in a fiery Andhra-style masala with chilli, ginger, garlic and other spices. This ensures that the chicken is tender, tasty and rich. Toppings include classic taco options like salsa, cilantro, onions and lime wedges. You can also find Indian influences like shredded fresh coconut and chutney to add flavour. If you are looking for a contemporary Indianized flavour, then this is the one. Al-Fungo Pizza: Who doesn’t love pizza? Well, this one had 4 different types of mushrooms and they were caramelised to perfection. This pizza melts away in the mouth and focuses on the natural flavour of mushrooms. It is usually made with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, but the stars of the show were the mushrooms. This pizza focuses on the natural flavour of mushrooms. It is usually made with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, but the star of the show is the mushrooms. Al- Fungo pizza is absolutely perfect for mushroom lovers. The simplicity allows the fresh flavours to shine, making it a crowd-pleaser. Spinach Pot Sticker Dumpling: This one can also get on your must-try list! It definitely had structure to it but you will be much more amazed by other things on the menu. Spinach Pot Sticker Dumpling combines Thai flavours and ingredients, including spinach with some seasoning packed into it, and all the ingredients that add a unique aroma. A sweet chilli sauce was offered to complement the flavours. Tomato Halwa: Sounds bizzare? Well, it does for anyone, but the revelation to the taste buds was fabulous! Don’t let the tomato fool you! Tomato Halwa was a sweet dish made with fresh, ripe tomatoes, sugar and ghee (clarified butter) to add richness. Tomato halwa was cooked until it reached a thick, curd-like consistency. It can be enjoyed hot or at room temperature. The key to this dish is finding a balance between the natural sweetness of the tomatoes and the added sugar.
