Taiwanese Brand INF Returns And Opens Two Weeks Pop Up In Marylebone

Taiwanese Brand INF Returns And Opens Two Weeks Pop Up In Marylebone

Following the success during London Fashion Week in February 2023, Taiwanese brand INF returns to London this September. This time with a two week pop up in Marylebone village bringing the unique Taiwanese cultured influenced BAN-DOH collection. The SS24 BAN-DOH collection draws its inspiration from traditional Taiwanese culture. BAN-DOH represents Taiwan’s unique hospitality culture, where various occasions like weddings, funerals, celebrations, housewarming parties, and temple festivals are celebrated in the form of BAN-DOH gatherings. However, with changing times, modern convenience and comfort have led to these traditional gatherings moving to restaurants and banquet halls, causing Taiwan’s BAN-DOH culture to gradually fade away. These familiar scenes from our childhood, such as neighbours coming together, roadside pavilions, and red plastic chairs, have slowly disappeared from our lives. BAN-DOH represents not only the abundance and deliciousness of food but also serves the purpose of socializing with fellow locals, fostering camaraderie, and building and strengthening social networks. As native Taiwanese deeply cherish these memories and the sense of community, INF aim to preserve and pass on Taiwan’s cultural heritage through BAN-DOH, making more people aware of the meaning behind these gatherings and ensuring the continuation of this Taiwanese culture. This season, INF have incorporated Taiwan’s unique BAN-DOH imagery into the prints, using elements like the traditional BAN-DOH furniture such as round tables, red plastic chairs, and lanterns. Seamlessly integrated with deconstructed traditional Taiwanese attire, including master tailor uniforms, blue and white overalls, and formal dresses. This not only adds depth to traditional clothing but also conveys the distinctive cultural characteristics of BAN-DOH. Lastly, the clothing features digital embroidery designs, combining wedding neon signs and Taiwanese-style tattoo motifs, adding another layer of visual flavour and dimension to the garments. The pop up closes on 30th September but until then, visit INF at 29 Marylebone Lane to discover the range of unique designs and a slice of Taiwanese culture.

In the heart of the fashion world, Odette, a visionary designer with an eye for opulence and sophistication, has embarked on an extraordinary journey to redefine luxury fashion with their breath-taking western wear collection. The AW23 Collection Audrey by Odette was launched recently and is being seen as a well-rounded testament to lasting fashion. Recently Mamta Roy- Founder of Odette shared the inspiring story and passion that fueled her vision of eternal luxury and modern elegance. “I was looking for inspiration for the latest collection and found it in the rugged beauty of the English,” she revealed. “I wanted to blend the timeless charm of the Victorian Era with the elegance of high fashion. It’s a collision of worlds, and the result is enchanting.” Odette’s luxury range collection is not just clothing; it’s a fusion of art and craftsmanship to create sophisticated, feminine glamour. Each piece means timeless and recognizable style and is meticulously crafted using the finest materials, from sumptuous silks to rich velvets. The attention to detail is unparalleled, and every stitch tells a story of dedication and love for the craft. What sets Odette’s collection apart, other than the essence of the England is the use of finest materials, diverse colour palette, and playful patterns. And a tasteful fusion of modern and vintage, elegant and comfortable. “I wanted to capture the spirit of the open plains, the grandeur of the paved streets, and the allure of the bohemian structures,” she explained. And indeed, her designs do just that. Audrey has a diverse selection of looks that appeal to a variety of tastes, from formal and sophisticated to relaxed and laid back. In this collection, glossy leather, second-skin fits, and micro shorts mix with modern clarity. “We have tried to give this collection an edge by including unique details and embellishments to the pieces, such as embroidery, sequins, studs, detailing, fabrics or prints that align with the collection’s theme.” She continues. Some pieces in the collection come with stunning accessories that complete the look, from elegant flower-embellished brooches to statement hair tie-ups and belts to complement the overall look. Each piece in Odette’s collection is a testament to her commitment to quality and elegance. Silhouettes may vary depending on the designer’s vision, but you can find styles that are tailored and layered for warmth. Western wear collections may incorporate elements like fringes, laces, brooch embellishments, tie-up details and denims. Along with the standalone party wear or evening wear pieces, the collection also houses tops, corsets, trousers and pieces that can be mixed and matched, providing versatility for different occasions and personal styles. “We have covered as many silhouettes as can be. The idea is to include body types and make it an inclusive prêt-à-porter collection.” Says Mamta. There are a lot of styles that are tailored and layered for warmth and style. Also given the colder season is ahead of us, Audrey- the AW23 collection also includes outerwear like acrylic knitwear, coats, jackets, and blazers in various styles and lengths. Apart from the warm comfort of these fabrics, lighter ones apt for warmer regions are used. You can find Voile, Silk, Satin, Net and others- the reason we call it an inclusive fashion collection. The recent launch of Odette’s collection was a resounding success, with influencers showing an interest in collaboration and a lot of enquiries from awaiting customers and fashion-conscious individuals. But for Odette, the journey has only just begun. “Success in the fashion world is not just about creating beautiful garments; it’s about preserving the integrity of your brand,” Mamta muses. She remains committed to listening to her customers’ feedback, adapting to evolving fashion trends, and continually pushing the boundaries of creativity. Odette’s luxury western wear collection is not just a collection; it’s an experience—a journey into a world where luxury, refined style, and the untamed spirit of the royalty converge. Claudia Wang Presents Her Video Game Inspired Collection At London Fashion Week

Claudia Wang Presents Her Video Game Inspired Collection At London Fashion Week

Taiwanese designer Claudia Wang made her London Fashion Week debut with a unique video game-inspired immersive experience on 17th September 2023. This showcase took place in Central London, at a contemporary Art Gallery on the South Bank. Claudia Wang presented her S/S24 collection ( 31 looks in total ) with a dynamic tech-blended show inspired by the playfulness of virtual spaces. This presentation exhibited her exciting new collection that works to highlight the importance of video games to enhance our conception of the physical world. The presentation sees models arranged on plinths throughout the space wearing the S/S24 collection, while the surrounding curved walls are illuminated by a projection of Wang’s specially designed computer game. Feline avatars roam around the screens wearing digital iterations of the new collection (mimicking the models in the physical showcase space). Claudia Wang’s bespoke video game is populated by avatars inspired by the 12 creatures of the Eastern zodiac signs. The game aims to lead the audience on a journey through the past, present and future. Wang is trying to emphasise the importance of virtual worlds to liberate our minds from the confines of normal life. Claudia Wang unifies this desire to escape into the otherworldly magic of virtual spaces, alongside more grounding references to the limits of (and beauty within) humanity. These themes are reflected in the collection itself. The vibrant and fun pieces are adorned with patterns created by Wang that are inspired by the video game zodiac signs, while the rose motif threaded throughout the collection acts as a reminder to centre oneself in reality. From conception, Claudia Wang’s designing process is engaged with digital processing. A brand invested in sustainability, Claudia Wang creates her patterns digitally before doing anything else, reducing waste. Her design process is a beautiful example of how life, and art, can be enhanced through a balanced relationship between physical and digital. This presentation opens a new chapter in the fusion of art and fashion, guiding viewers into a fantasy world while igniting profound reflections on love and life.

Siyun Huang Presents Her Digital Showcase At London Fashion Week With A Speculative Kinetic Fashion Collection Titled ‘Immateriality’

This season, Siyun Huang Studio continues to show the designer Siyun Huang iconic kinetic fashion art collection at London Fashion Week. Siyun Huang Spring/ Summer Collection ‘Immateriality’ originated from the experience of visiting the fossil collection in the museum, which has led to the designer think about the “intangible”. This is a theme based on abstract Eastern philosophy, where the designer has used elements such as dragonflies, lotus leaves, rain, bamboo, and leaves(for Zongzi) to show the life cycle process – “newborn, blooming, death and reborn”. In addition, also inspired by the kinetic sculptures of kinetic artist Alexander Calder, the designer seeks a balance between movement and stillness in curved lines, geometric shapes and soft angles. ‘The light of dragonflies, the poetry of lotus leaves in the rain, the elegance of bamboo. Listen to the rain and watch the clouds, and respect the heavens and things.’ These Chinese cultural metaphors implicit behind concrete natural objects are what Siyun Huang aims to explore. “Nothingness overcomes complications, silence wins over sound.” It is also a very important way to understand the unique Chinese philosophy and culture. The theme has multiple meanings: it refers to the surface layer that uses sound sensing to achieve fashion interaction; It also points to the imagination of intelligent life forms other than carbon-based life; Finally, it is an extension of the mind beyond embodiment.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by TheStyle.World (@www.thestyle.world) “In addition to modern technology, I’m also exploring digital innovations of traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage. Some looks use the handmade textile of the Miao minority in southwest China, which is a type of craftmanship on fabric, but the process is complex. It requires indigo dyeing, attaching egg white or cow’s blood on the surface, constant pounding and steaming, it often takes months to produce a 45 cm wide fabric, its surface is shiny but not dazzling. The silhouette refers to the geometry of the 2D cutting to create a 3D shape. By recreating fabrics with modern techniques such as shape changes, embroidery to call on the sustainable development of cultural heritage that is “passing”, says the designer Siyun Huang.
