The two-minute-17-second-long video focuses attention on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj—the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the ruler of the Maratha Empire from 1681 till 1689. With its lyrics in which he is characterised as the lion’s cub, the video is made to exhibit the sequence before his coronation as the king of the Marathas.
Composed and produced by A.R. Rahman, Aaya Re Toofan is sung by A.R Rahman and Vaishali Samant. The lyrics are penned by Irshaad Kamil and Kshitij.
The first track, Jaane Tu, from the Laxman Utekar directorial, was released by the makers last week. Vicky attended the launch event of the song in Hyderabad. He was joined by Rashmika.
A few weeks back, Chhaava was confronted with the wrath of Maratha soldiers following a teaser trailer of the film leaked, featuring one of the few dance sequences done by Vicky’s Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika’s Maharani Yesubai donning the lezim, an instrumentation that has deep roots in Maharashtrian culture. Several parts of it were subsequently chopped off due to criticism.
Chhaava is an adaptation of a Marathi novel of the same name by Shivaji Sawant. The film featuring Akshaye Khanna playing the role of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb releases on February 14. Other cast members are Ashutosh Rana, Diana Penty, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Divya Dutta, and it’s produced by Dinesh Vijan.
