Banshee of Savile are busy preparing their latest collection to show this September at London Fashion Week 2023. Entitled ‘Stripped Back’, Ruby Selvin, Founder of Banshee of Savile Row felt compelled to capture the need for people to go back to sexual empowerment through their clothes, spending less time using technology and more time in the physical world connecting with others, as clothing is the ultimate form of self-expression.
“Savile Row is all about using craftsmanship that has been around for hundreds of years to create pieces that will last. These statement overcoats keep in line with our sustainable approach, by only making what is needed, while allowing us to deliver unique pieces to our customers.” Ruby Slevin, Founder of Banshee of Savile Row.
London Fashion Week will also see Banshee on the digital schedule where they will also be hosting an evening salon presentation to show their latest collection and premier their London Fashion Week film. Their latest film, shot in London and Ireland, nods to Banshee of Savile Row’s Irish, female roots; the brand owned by Irish designer and tailor, Ruby Slevin. A film celebrating the wild and free Banshee women who dance between worlds – from the lush seaside of Ireland to the vibrant streets of London – carrying on tradition and honouring their roots while thriving in a modern, urban life.
About The Brand:
Following 4 phenomenal years of growth, the women’s tailoring brand that exudes a rock n’ roll aesthetic, Banshee of Savile Row, are thrilled to announce the launch of their new online made to order coat service – the only atelier on Savile Row to provide such a service. The move comes after a huge year of innovation for Banshee, firmly planting their flag in the sand as the stand out tailor on The Row.
“This is a hugely exciting time for the brand. Launching a made to order coat service allows us to inspire a whole new audience of Banshee women worldwide. You can have a beautiful, hand stitched Savile Row coat made for you, in a fabric of your choice in a fraction of the time of a bespoke suit service. Think Donegal tweeds, British wools and velvets for our opera coats!” – Ruby Slevin, Founder of Banshee of Savile Row.
The innovation is a Savile Row first. Simply enter your dress size and height and pick your coat shape. Select from houndstooth, herringbone Donegal tweed, British wool coating or velvets. Next choose from four silk or cupro (a sustainable option made from wood pulp) linings. The velvet opera coat comes in either black, navy or purple velvet with the same choice of linings. The coats will take 6-8 weeks for delivery and shipping is worldwide.
- The Raven
Made from the best British cotton velvet and fully lined in silk, The Raven is inspired by nights at the opera. Fully handmade with a floating canvas and velvet covered buttons.
- The Lioness
This full length double breasted coat is made from beautifully soft handwoven Donegal tweed. Fully silk lined and handmade with a full floating canvas.
- The Long Brown Fox
A single breasted statement coat with a super wide peaked lapel. A perfect coat for autumn, winter and spring that moves beautifully! This example is made from our favourite fabrics – Donegal houndstooth tweed with silk lining. Fully handmade with a floating canvas.
Over the past 4 years Banshee has been quietly building itself as the only fully bespoke tailoring house for women on The Row. In this time they have dressed Claire Foy, Stefani Martini and Angela Scanlon to name a few, and have become both the only members of the British Fashion Council and London Fashion Week Designers on Savile Row.
Banshee of Savile Row making inroads to USA
Due to popular demand, Banshee are also delighted to be hosting their first US trunk shows this autumn. First stops are New York and LA, but this is just the beginning of Banshee’s Stateside journey.
“This is a really natural progression for Banshee as we get so many clients from the States coming to our Savile Row atelier. I can’t wait to bring Banshee women’s tailoring to America and build from there. Watch this space!” – Ruby Slevin, Founder, Banshee of Savile Row
