LAKME FASHION WEEK 2018 – Day 3

Lakme fashion week is an event where the designers showcase their designs for every season. No fashion enthusiast ever walks away without drawing inspiration from the LFW. This year LWF presents Winter/Festive 2018 a thrilling event which is a mix of established and emerging designers. This year the LFW took an initiation of giving a chance to the upcoming designers to showcase their talent. The event is scheduled to happen at St. Regis, Mumbai, from the 22nd of August to 26th August, 2018. Here is a glimpse of third day.

The show sparked with the runway that included skillful and the upcoming designers like:

1)  Two point Two by Anvitha

 Inspiration – Kimono

Inspiration – Kimono

The siblings Huma kureshi and Sakeb saleem were the showstopper for her. Since kimono is essentially a gender garment and the whole brand is about gender clothing and not categorizing a men’s wear or women’s wear. She went back to the most typical garment and modernized it in a sportive way and took certain details like to make it modern.

2) Mohammed Mazar

Inspiration -- ‘Rafugar’ inspired by his living inspiration Zameer Ahmed

The collection of him was all about the Rafugar which is helping the community who really are in need. His main intenion is to support the rafugar community and provide an employment to them. His collection showcases lots of rafugar in red, black and white color palette where he added embroidery to make them look more elegant

3) Twin Queen by Armaan Randhawa

He dedicated his collection to the British designer. His collection is about the boxy clothes which have bomber jacket inside, sweat pants, sweat shirts on which he included all the minimal things with subtle embroidery on them. The idea behind the embroidery is to stay unique which was created on kaka and then put onto jackets.

4) The platform by Smart water featuring Poochki, Shanti and Kanika Goyal

Soha ali khan walked as a showstopper for three designer’s collection, in which one of them was beautiful tusser silk skirt by Shanti, organza top by Poochki and the jacket by Kanika. They were all inspired by clouds because it uses the whole evaporation process and still make smart water. Kanika Goyal collection was all about the edgy silhouettes accented with graphic art which was inspired by clouds. Sakshi and Swasti shah presented Shanti collection which was ‘Megh-Malhar’ crafted from discarded fabrics. The motifs and designs are fused to imitate the texture and variance of clouds which are all set in a dark intense mood bringing forth Megh-Malhar. The Poochik’s was presented by Ishanee and Anirudh where the inspiration is from a poem black cloud which talks about impending doom.

GENDER BENDER

The pot plants human collection, as a part of the gender-bender show, comprises of easy separates and coordinates that are not driven by gender norms.

Annam’s collection as a part of gender bender show was inspired by Behrupiya an impressionist in the traditional performing arts of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Bobo Calcutta presented Ludicrous Legacy a celebration of the ludicrous legacies that people leave behind at the combinations in gender bender.

5) Savitri by Gaurang Shah

Gaurang gives ode to the super star of the south Indian film industry Savitri. His collection was more of banaras sarees in different colors which were draped perfectly and represents the great actress. The collection also sees the return of the nostalgic charm with a revival of the south Indian silks and textiles.

6) Heroine of the opera by Karthikeya

Inspiration – powerful theatrics of European opera culture

Inspiration – powerful theatrics of European opera culture

The hereof opera emulates an old world nostalgia interspersed with the powerful theatrics of the European opera culture in late 170’s through the grand silhouettes, luxury fabric and deep hues.

7) Shift and Arpitha Mehta by Caprese girl

Her collection is a fusion fun which is a modern take on Indian saree. Caprese resonates with a younger girl and the styles were very young which makes modern outfits for younger girls. The gorgeous Karishma Kapoor walked for caprese in a black classy outfit which is a modern take on Indian saree. Her collection is easy breezy vibes to silhouettes which captured the attitude of Caprese effortlessly.

8) Millennial Maharani by Nachiket Barve

The designers collection is all about the millennial maharani inspired by life. He is even more inspired by the clashes of history along with what the present offers. Jahnavi Kapoor walked for him where she wore the best of fashion which is light weight and comfortable and even modern. His collection is about the comfortable traditional wear with wonderful embroidery detailing on them

9) Amit Agarwal

Dishapatani and Shahid Kapoor were the showstopper for Amit Agarwal whose creations are creative, innovative and always believe in experimenting. In collaboration with NEXA Amit Agarwal gave a perfect finishing, sexy and smart collections. The collection he made for both men and women were mind-blowing, edgy and larger than life. He gave a stretchy vibe to the garments and very light weight even they look like heavy. The garments were made by recycled plastic which is a great initiative.
