Manna Dey, the legendary Indian playback singer known for classics like ‘Yeh Dosti’, ‘Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli’, and ‘Yeh Raat Bheegi Bheegi’, initially refused to sing ‘Ek Chatur Naar’ from the 1968 film Padosan. Despite its global popularity today, Dey’s initial hesitation stemmed from his discomfort with the song’s humorous lyrics, which he felt clashed with his serious musical style. Padosan, featuring Sunil Dutt, Saira Banu, Kishore Kumar, and Om Prakash, is celebrated for its stellar performances and memorable soundtrack. Although some lyrics were adjusted, Dey remained uneasy about the portions sung by Kishore Kumar. However, the song became a timeless hit, showcasing the lasting appeal of both singers. Born Prabodh Chandra Dey in 1919 in Kolkata, Dey pursued a music career despite his father’s wish for him to become a lawyer. Encouraged by his uncle Krishnachandra Dey and Ustad Dabir Khan, he achieved great success. Manna Dey passed away on October 24, 2013, at 94. Latest and Trending Entertainment News, Celebrity News, Movie News, Breaking News | Entertainment – Times of India
