After a long wait, India’s first Apple retail store is here, and Tim Cook is making all the noise with his presence in India.

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, was welcomed to India to inaugurate the new flagship store in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The opening ceremony took place at 11 am on the 18th of April, 2023. Why today you wonder? It’s to commemorate the 25th year of Apple in India (Tim, you’re a genius!)

Tim landed in India the day before the opening and had a pretty busy day. He met Reliance Industry chairman, Mukesh Ambani and the chairman of Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran. He spent the rest of the day with B’town celebrities like Boney Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit

Moreover, the Apple CEO also shared a picture ahead of the launch, welcoming everyone with the team at Mumbai. This 100 member-team is specially curated to give a nod to our culture and is Tim’s way of accepting and being mindful of India’s diversity. The team members can speak in over 20 different languages, a crucial asset to connect with the Indian market.

The actress posted a photo with Tim Cook on Twitter in which the two can be seen enjoying Mumbai’s famous and delicious Vada Pav! The perfect way to spend time in Mumbai! Mr Cook retweeted the same and said, “Thanks @madhuridixit for introducing me to my very first Vada Pav — it was delicious!”

Tim looks to expand the smartphone market in India. Tim has been working on making Apple more sustainable. One of his recent tweets says “Every day, our teams are innovating to develop products that will one day take nothing from the Earth. Thanks to their work, each battery we design for our products will use 100% recycled cobalt by 2025.” We believe the store is a step toward promoting this advancement. The store is highlighted as the ‘most sustainable’ as it operates on a dedicated solar array and does not rely on fossil fuels. The store runs on 100 percent renewable energy.

As the store opened, we could see long lines of Apple enthusiasts eagerly waiting to checkout the inside of the store. Tim Cook was taken aback by this response and took to Twitter to say, “The energy, creativity, and passion in Mumbai is incredible! We are so excited to open Apple BKC — our first store in India.”

The launch of this store in our country has put us on the map with 552 other prestigious outlets across the globe in 25 countries including the Apple Park Visitor Center in Cupertino, Apple Champs-Élysées in Paris, Apple Dubai Mall and Apple Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
