Virasat Craft Conclave, a project by Enactus. It is an international non-profit student-run organization and Enactus Shri Ram College of Commerce is one such chapter that creates social impact through the positive power of entrepreneurship. Enactus SRCC is currently running 4 projects in the WASH, crafts, clean energy and waste management sectors. Through these undertakings, more than 42,000 people are impacted daily directly. From bringing a wave of revolution in the waste management sector to tackle the environmental spillover of the world’s most littered waste- Cigarette Butts to providing potable water at marginal rates of Rs.4 for 20 liters to the underprivileged and preventing stubble burning by converting stubble waste into smokeless biochar briquettes (thus, directly reducing air pollution as well), Enactus SRCC has left no stone unturned to create a positive impact on the planet.
One of our projects in the craft revival sector is Project Virasat. Project Virasat is an umbrella for craft cluster development with a vision to revive the languishing craft forms of India. We have 4 craft forms under our ambit, namely- the Gaurahari Stonework of Mahoba, Usta Kala of Bikaner, Bagh Printing of Dhar and Pichvai Painting of Nathdwara which impact 80+ artisans and have increased their monthly income by over 150%.
Before our intervention, all these craft forms were on the verge of extinction. We catered to the needs of those whose legacy was ignored by growing industrialization. In order to provide the torchbearers of our heritage, the craftsmen of India, the recognition they deserve, we are ready to launch our website. We are glad to announce that, for the official launch of our website, we’ll be hosting Virasat Craft Conclave 2021, India’s one-of-its-kind virtual Craft Conclave on 10th July, to be graced by none other than UN Goodwill Ambassador, Ms. Dia Mirza.
The event will consist of panel discussions with eminent personalities from various organizations associated with the craft sector such as UNESCO, FabIndia, Jaipur Rugs, Khamir, Zwende, Kadam Haat, Dastkari Haat Samiti, Okhai, Rangsutra, and TATA Trust. Which will be followed by a mesmerising evening of live cultural performances by renowned folk artists like Kalpana Patowary, Mahesh Raghavan, Osho Jain, and Swaraag Band along with fascinating workshops directly from the homes of national and state awardee master artisans of various craft forms.
Virasat Craft Conclave helps for the craft cluster development with a vision. With the launch of our website, we envision to provide a launch pad for the languishing art forms of India which is truly a unique platform for, by and of the artisans, the torch bearers of our legacy.
