JD Design Awards 2024 wrapped up its first event in Vijayawada with an inspirational design extravaganza. The collections and designs presented had inspiring stories attached to them. Here, at the crossroads of imagination and innovation, young designers dared to envision the future of design through the lens of future fiction. Influential people from the media, academicians, premium brands, and design industry members attended the show. Prudhvi Devaraj Kumar was awarded the Excellence in Academic & Creative Design award for the collection Kinetic Fashion, which redefines clothing as a moving experience, merging technology & textiles to express style & reflect the soul’s journey. Kambla. Vennela & M.R.N.T. Sai Sushma were awarded the Best Executed Collection for the collection Cheriyal Mask, which takes inspiration and draws on the past while showing once again that good wins over evil. Sonali Pandey was awarded the Best Concept Award for the collection Samartha Kshetra, which, with nature-inspired designs, focuses on being sustainable using recycled materials and natural dyes. Badri Niharika was awarded the Best Design Collection award for the collection Magical Realism, which evokes a fantastical future where floating cities feature airborne farms and mesmerising entertainment. Kousalya was awarded the Most Innovative Collection award for the collection Urja, which blends geometrics with futuristic cuts keeping sustainability at its core Tanguturu Naga Rishitha was awarded the Best Critic Award for the collection Overvinde a Abusa which empowers the fight against abuse while promoting self-protection for an abuse-free future. Sangepu Prasanna Lakshmi was awarded the Jury Choice Award for the collection Sankhya, which intertwines the realm of numbers, communication, computing & connectivity to unite disparate worlds. Yarlagadda Sukanya & Iragala Lakshmi Prasanna were awarded the Periodic Collection award for the collection Dhuni, which blends asceticism & futuristic elements to represent a world where enlightenment & extraordinary abilities coexist. Kalepalli Sainadh was awarded the Experimental Collection award for the collection Social Society, which converts lifestyle to virtual reality while blending vibrance with tech gadgets. Nandhupalli. Divya was awarded the Unique Pret Wear award for the collection Beyond Shells, which mimics the dazzling colours of nudibranchs, symbolising a future of personalised medicine inspired by nature’s marvels. Puchakayala. Abhinaya Sri was awarded the Best Athleisure Award for the collection Puzzle Palette Partners, which features Rubik’s Cube-inspired attire, a revolutionary fusion that blends performance wear with dazzling colour gradients.
