After a week of glitz, glamour and grandeur, Lakme Fashion Week concluded on 25th of this month with a bang. With the biggest faces of Bollywood turning showstoppers for designers, the grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week (Winter/ Festive Collection 2019) was a star-studded affair. The queen of Sass, Kareena Kapoor Khan stunned the world with her off-shoulder black gown and Gothic glam look as she turned showstopper for the designer duo Gauri & Nainika. The pitch black, floor length outfit did all the talking when the gorgeous actress ditched accessories and donned a sleek hair style and statement red lipstick. The out of the world gown featured an exaggerated train that was completed with net details. The Queen actress Kangana Ranaut exuded elegance and extravagance as she strutted the ramp for designer Disha Patil. She looked strikingly gorgeous in a powder blue creation from the collection ‘The Interpretation of Love’ curated by the designer for the millennial brides. The lehenga featured intricate traditional work and was paired with a satin off-shoulder blouse. The look was completed with a pair of silver earrings, messy hairdo and smoky eyes. The fitness queen Malaika Arora raised the oomph factor on the ramp in a wine-coloured ensemble designed by Diya & Rajvvir. Her plunging neckline blouse, and the thigh high slit on the skirt added just enough sultry factor to the look. The embossed roses on the skirt and the butterfly fan sleeves made it the perfect choice for the contemporary bride. Malaika completed her look with a pair of statement earrings and wet hair look. Actress Genelia Dsouza was a delight for the eyes as she turned showstopper once again at Lakme Fashion Week 2019. She walked the ramp for designer Saroj Jalan in a heavily embroidered red ensemble Actresses Soha Ali Khan and Shilpa Shetty dazzled in yellow apparels as they turned showstoppers for Kavita Agarwal and Punit Balana, respectively. Hands down the cutest moment at this year’s LFW was when actress Esha Deol walked the ramp with her adorable little daughter Radhya for the children’s brand Hamleys. Shabana Azmi was spotted walking the ramp for designer Kaveri Lalchand. She wore a black linen A-line Kurta paired with ruffle detailed dupatta and ivory bottoms with a golden border.

Debutant actress Ananya Pandey created the biggest buzz on Day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week Winter-festive collection. She walked the ramp for not one but two designers in absolutely gorgeous Indian creations. She turned showstopper for designers Anushree Reddy and Arpita Mehta. She adorned an ivory bridal ensemble by the former, which was styled with emerald choker giving a regal and elegant touch to the look. For the latter, she was dressed in a heavily intricate pink lehenga that had flower motifs all over. Actress Disha Patani sizzled the ramp in an overlapping beaded gown in galactic hues of midnight skies, created by the designer duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna. The sexy garb featured a deep neckline and a thigh slit raising the oomph factor on ramp. Ayushmann Khurrana was also seen accompanying the actress as they closed the show for the designers, who had made a comeback to LFW after almost 15 years. The national award winning actor sported a long, sharp and sleek embellished blazer from the collection titled “The Interstellar”. The graceful Shibani Dandekar turned showstopper once again at Lakme Fashion Week for the designer Bandana Narula. She looked glam in a strapless corset with floral print and a pink lehenga that had geometric patterns with intricate features on the hem. The diva rounded off the look with semi open locks and a choker necklace. The collection as described by the designer on her Instagram page was a vision of millennial ensembles, handcrafted with meticulous craftsmanship. Designer Kunal Rawal, the youngest ever to debut in Lakme Fashion Week, had his friend Arjun Kapoor and his cousin Jahaan Kapoor walk the ramp. Showcasing his collection titled Confluence, the actor sported an ash grey bandhgala jacket with brown pants, styled with black formal shoes. The collection featured interesting hemlines and patterns giving a relaxed makeover to men’s festive wear. Jalebi actress Rhea Chakraborty channelled her inner goddess on the ramp in a dazzling black dress. The Ambika Lal ensemble featured a shimmery torso with ruffled skirt and a sweetheart neckline. She styled the trained dress with minimalistic makeup and wavy locks. Celebrity couple Shahid Kapoor and his lovely wife Mira Rajput attended the Day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week in white and red ensembles complementing each other. The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive collection 2019 takes the sustainability factor forward, continuing to gleam in glamour and star power. After Katrina Kaif and Farhan Akhtar, it was the gorgeous Diana Penty who took the stage by storm. The “Sheher ki Ladki” fame actress turned showstopper for designer Ridhi Mehra looked regal in her ivory-peach lehenga that had pearl embellishments and surface texturing. The look was completed with an emerald neckpiece and matching earrings. MohenjoDaro actor Pooja Hegde also walked the ramp as showstopper for designer Jayanti Reddy. The actress looked stunning in her heavily embellished purple lehenga and matching blouse with a plunging neckline. Actress Aahana Kumra and Mallika Dua were some of the other gorgeous faces who walked for the designer. Caprese and Nachiket Barve showcased their collection titled Passport Princesses with actress Rakul Preet Singh closing the show. The actress sported a black jumpsuit with bead work and a sheer cape. The “Lipstick under my Burkha” fame actress was all smiles as she walked down the runway in a pink ensemble styled with a statement kamarbandh. “Student of the Year 2” actress Tara Sutaria made her maiden walk at the ramp for Designer Ritu Kumar‘s signature label. She wore a short black dress with tassels with white embroidered full sleeves top. The dress was paired with thigh high boots and minimalistic makeup. Actress Mandira Bedi was also spotted on Day 3 posing for shutterbugs wearing Ritu Kumar Label. Some of the other notable names include Fan actress Shriya Pilgaonkar, couple Keith Sequeira and Rochelle Rao, Sarah Jane Dias and others.   .

Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive Collection 2019 – Day 2

Day 2 of LFW was celebrated as Lakme’s Sustainable Fashion Day. In sync with the theme, designers David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore showcased a stunning range of collection fashioned out of a fabric called EcoVero.  The fabric is entirely made of fiber derived from wood pulp which is drawn from certified forests making everything sustainable, right from the raw material. Athiya Shetty, the show stopper for the collection sported a stunning monochrome statement saree with a collared button-down blouse that featured black and white stripes matching the saree. The ensemble was styled with a statement earring that stretched all the way to the shoulders along with a feather-adorned slip-ons. The look was glammed up with a touch of blush, shimmery eye shadow and mauve lips. Day 2 also saw Mrunal Thakur walking the ramp for debutant label Aavaran, an Udaipur-based enterprise offering a range of con-temporised “Dabu” mud-resist, hand-dyed and hand block-printed garments, home furnishings and accessories. The “Love Sonia” actress looked ethereal in a beautiful ivory creation. She looked absolutely stunning in a full sleeve choli and a matching A line lehenga with golden print. With a maang tikka on her forehead and simple makeup, Mrunal stunned everyone with her alluring beauty. The “Veere Di Wedding” actor Sumit Vyas turned showstopper for designer Pallavi Dhyani’s label Three. He looked dapper in a Grey 2-button suit as he strutted on the runway wearing a white t-shirt and matching trousers. After turning heads on the first day, Beyond the Clouds actress Malavika Mohanan was another Bollywood celebrity who sizzled on the runway for designer Padmaja. A special fashion showcase from Eleven Eleven Clothing also emphasised on sustainability and creating links between farmers, weavers, vegetable dyeing and block printing traditions. Supported by C & A Foundation and enabled by IMG Reliance, this collaboration is a movement for sustainable and organic cotton in the Indian Fashion Industry. Another highlight of the day was the adorable Bollywood couple Riteish Deshmukh and wife Genelia who flaunted their flawless chemistry on stage, dressed in matching outfits from Antar – Agni. The couple brought the right amount of romance and panache to this season of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive collection 2019.

If there is anything that can divert the attention of fashionistas, it’s The Lakme Fashion Week. The five-day fashion fiesta in its 20th year, kickstarted their Winter/Festive collection 2019 with the launch of veteran designer Manish Malhotra’s collection titled Maahrumysha at Mumbai on Tuesday. With the crème de la crème of Bollywood and fashion industry lined up for the show, the opening day shimmered in glamour, grandeur and sophistication. Prominent faces like Karisma Kapoor, Sophie Choudhary, Amrita Arora, Ishaan Khatter, Karan Johar, Chitrangada Singh and Daisy Shah amongst many others were spotted watching the ramp walk from the front row. The Bollywood glitterati looked their glamourous best as they walked in on the opening day of LFW. The stunning Bollywood Diva, Katrina Kaif was seen walking the ramp as showstopper for Manish Malhotra. The Bharat star looked ethereal in black as she stilettoed her way in a heavily embellished, velvet lehenga and a ruffle trailed blouse alongside the designer. The collection according to his Instagram page is curated to be a celebration of resplendent beauty in dazzling details of Indian Couture. The designs reflected hues of royal blue, ivory, beige, ochre, grey, salmon and the signature gold of the label and comprised of a variety of textures, fabrics and embellishments with a mix of both western and Indian silhouettes. The collection featured everything from sarees, lehengas, gowns, shararas, crop top and skirts for the women and layered bandhgalas, jackets, kurtas and trousers for the men. The Winter/Festive edition this year is all set to start a conversation around sustainable fashion and innovation. The aim is to celebrate the rich heritage of Indian fabrics and create new stories for the years to come.
