 Flevent at the Indiranagar Club

Flevent at the Indiranagar Club

Flevent at the Indiranagar Club FLEVENT, a name that is quite new to the ears. But the way they put up a show, they don’t come across as amateurs. Recently, on the 28th of October, they organised a festival that was filled with a variety of stalls, none of them similar to the other. There were certain stalls that literally blew our minds. Since aesthetic things always get more eyes, here are some of the stalls that really got our attention:   Art by Aakansha — Hued Spirit Aakansha Menon, a designer and an illustrator, draws for a living. She gives an artistic touch to whatever she does. She’s so fun to talk to, and inspiring with her work.   Soup’s Cake co. Soup’s Cake co., a company by Supriya Agarwal who is an Alumni of Lavonne Academy is a cake artist and a pastry chef. She makes customized cakes and desserts. Everything you find on her stall is very different, colorful and scrumptious. We had to hold ourselves back from eating everything up.   Suffuse Soaps Have you ever felt like eating your soap? If you haven’t, you definitely will once you buy Suffuse soaps, especially their cupcake ones. They’re so alluring and interesting in shapes, colors and designs.   Art by Amulya Amulya Jaypal, a self-taught artist, creates art and transfers it onto objects that you could buy. Some of her very attractive pieces are her notepads, fridge magnets and photo frames. Her focal point is making something that has meaning.   The July Store The July store is a place that does custom made terrariums. These days decorative plants have become fascinating, and this store has a very unique way of building up their terrariums.   The Flora This store was what stood out the most to us due to their vibrancy. But when we had a talk, there was more to it than just aesthetics. Two young girls started with this brand that allows one to subscribe to weekly flowers for a varied price range. They give out flower food, which is a fairly new concept to us. What an impressive stall!   We had a great time at this event, all chirpy and humble people. So much creativity in one spot, we’re definitely motivated to work harder.   Written and photographed by — Shainika Reddy ( https://www.instagram.com/shainikareddy/ )

 Chittara Dusshera Festival Bazaar

Chittara Dusshera Festival Bazaar

Chittara Dusshera Festival Bazaar FEEL ETHNIC IN THE CITY  Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, situated in the heart of the garden city, Bangalore, is a beautiful, vibrant premise that bestows authenticity and tradition in its purest form. It is a landmark for visual culture in the city and the state that comprises a network of Museums, Galleries and Archives. It is not only a visual discoursed space for artists from all over the globe but also hosts one of the finest art colleges in the city. Established in 1960 by Mr M Arya Murthy, this centre enriches the manner in which art history is perceived and serves as a learning space for students and visitors reflecting the passion of those who contribute to its establishment. Karnataka Chithrakala Parishat brings to us ‘ CHITTARA ’ – one of the finest shopping bazaars in town from 27th to 7th October providing us with a heart-pleasing shopping experience from over 100 stores that offer exclusive handcrafted products designed and crafted by local artisans. Serving as a therapeutic retail experience you will find everything from colorful lamp shades and festive mud diyas to beautiful black pottery kitchenware and handcrafted home décor products. Further ahead is a highlight on all the aspects that we as viewers were enthralled by. CLOTHING Clothes in today’s world are not just fabrics but an expression of emotions.  An enormous diversity of clothes from all over India were made available at the stalls in the event. Not only did the soft silk apparel make our hearts happy, but also the interlocked knotted jute from Telangana attracted our minds. Beautifully dyed and fabricated Kashmiri shawls and Handloom sarees with kurtas also made a significant presence alongside western apparel. HANDCRAFTED PIECES Indicating Handcraft skills that we INDIANS are known for, the stalls presented a beautiful display of lampshades right after the entrance. All the hard work and creativity put in by the Rajasthani artisan caught the sight of the crowd having them awestruck. The lamps were crafted using colored glass pieces over a plain glass structure making it a product of emphasis that we all would want to use in places of decorative lighting. This was indeed one of the most attractive stalls at the event. We got an insight on how copper and brass antiques of Uttar Pradesh were manually made and sold at reasonable prices ranging from 250 – 20,000 rupees. We were amazed by the little things made by the disabled kids from the Fatima Handicap Welfare Trust (NGO). It certainly proved that the kids might be disabled physically but are blessed with creative minds making them an asset for our country. Having the pleasure to watch the crowd buy their products indicated their helpful nature and their respect towards humankind. We also saw some wall art made using 100% organic materials like colors extracted from vegetables, stones or even wood pulp. Their prices varied depending on the design and handwork put in by the artisans. FOOD AND FESTIVITIES Food being the aesthetic factor of Indian culture is predominantly a mélange of spices and flavors. Akin to its cultural and linguistic diversity, Indian cuisines vary from state to state. Spicy, flavorful condiments like pickles and papads that are commonly eaten with everyday meals added a traditional essence alongside savory dishes like ‘son papad’ and ‘kaju barfi’. The stalls displayed a variety of festive food including Indian spices. We as visitors enjoyed the pickles that had been prepared at its place of origin by the ladies. These condiments were carried all the way from Uttar Pradesh or Rajasthan and had mind-blowing flavors of its land. Food, however, might be piquant, others less too, but they are all colorful and enticing. We came across a stall who’s lady had displayed her skills in the form of beautiful diyas and other Diwali decor that were highly fascinating. Festivities always enhance the essence of tradition and culture that any cultural initiative attempts to provide. FURNITURE AND ACCESSORIES Furniture can be a product of design and is also considered a form of decorative art. In India, it not only plays a functional role but also serves a symbolic and religious purpose. The stalls showcased finely handcrafted furniture made using a variety of woodworking joints which reflected the local culture. Indian artisans make use of natural objects such as a tree, stumps, rocks and moss. Everything starting from terracotta and antique to beautiful metal crafted furniture was being sold. In addition to that, accessories like flower vases, fiber baskets, wall hangings like dream catchers and wind chimes; and handmade jewelry of Odisha and Assam provided an enthralling experience to the crowd. Jewelry that is handcrafted instead of being machine made are considered special and dear to our hearts as the kind of hard work put in by the individuals is respected and cherished by all. All of these products not only deck up our living, but also ramp up our style. That’s not all! The exhibition also had a wide range of vintage carpets, paintings, ceramic pots, organic bath, body products and much more that provided a pleasing shopping experience to one and all present there. – BY YOGITA, DRISHTI AND PREKSHA

We use dressing-up to present ourselves to the world in a best possible way and try to project ourselves as who we are. But these clothing’s are quite expensive and can even make you broke. There are ways to shop on budget and get trendy pocket-friendly wear:   1. Buy Quality Used Clothing You might have heard about many online stores that resell the used clothes like Ebay.com., swap.com and vinted.com etc. Sometimes buying used clothes is better than spending a lot in brand new. You don’t need to buy lingerie or used shoes but pants; skirts and dresses are smart to spend on. There are many people who get rid of their new clothes long before they become worn out. With these kinds of websites, you can get nearly new items all the time with a fraction of the price.   2. Wardrobe On Style With Budget. Instead of going shopping after every couple of weeks or days, you should rather go for season shopping and save money in a better way. Shopping according to the season is the best way to save and look new every day. If you get bored with your old clothes don’t throw or pass it out. Put those clothes for reselling or donate it. By reselling it you will get a pretty much good income too.   3. Only Buy On Sale. Always wait for a sale! Online store like Amazon, Snapdeal, Flipkart etc is a good famous place to find trending and good quality of clothes, footwear and accessories on sale with your budget. Even if you go for window shopping, DON’T rush in to anything you like. Hold on! check and utilize the store’s scheme advantage. They usually put the one you like on sale after a couple of days or weeks from the initial sale. So wait for the right time to grab your choice in half the price. This wait is worth your time and budget.   4. Buy Good High-Quality Clothes. It is painful to buy expensive clothes but trust me it’s worth spending for rather than going for cheap and not so lasting items. This will actually help you to save money in the long run. Decide if you will go for a dress for worth 2 k and wear it for 100 times or buy a dress for 500 and wear it for 10 times. Well! I will pick the first option.   5. Clustering Have you ever heard about how Kate Middleton, the daughter-in-law of Queen Elizabeth, dressed up? Well, in that case, all the pretty broke girls should know that all she did was clustering. So yeah! Clustering is the best way to show off your fashion and get a new look every day. All you need to do is to get your fashion sense to an extreme level and get your outfits repeated with no repetition. In this, you can come up with the same dresses but different looks. You can wear your old boring crop top with jeans, skirts, or ready to go pants. Well, that’s where you hit up with great new outfits for every day.   6. Recycled Fashion Sounds quite pretty interesting though. Well, it’s so easy and best way to carry yourself with a low budget and get a new you. 4 Jewelry Trends We Should have in Our Closet this Season!

4 Jewelry Trends We Should have in Our Closet this Season!

4 Jewelry Trends We Should Have in Our Closet this Season! We often have the perfect outfit for the occasion, but a necklace or an earring just completes the look. Jewelry plays a very significant role to achieve the final look for any occasion! Having said that, we here at thestyle.world try to suggest how you can incorporate the jewelry pieces listed below in your own style. Shells As we head into autumn, shell jewelry in all different shapes and sizes is one of the special, substantial pieces that we want to buy. Minimalistic anklets Anklets has been the main part of Indian jewelry from a long time, and there are many stylistic anklet options available. Wearing them on one ankle makes the outfit look so chic and makes a style statement. Chunky Earrings After watching a tonne of shoulder-grazing bling come down the runway’s of Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant and Christopher Kane (we could go on), we couldn’t wait for them to drop online. And the time is now to pick up a pair. We say go big or go home. These can be paired with a plain white crisp shirt! It adds an Oomph factor and and it’s a head turner in any occasion for sure. Heavy duty chains We fell hard for Natacha Ramsay-Levi’s debut Chloé collection, which introduced us to her heavy-duty chains. We instantly want to layer super-sized chains over everything we wear for winter.   #jewellery #trending #shells #anklets #heavydutychain #chunkyearings #minimisticanklets #trend #mustfollow #fashion #styledotworld #lifestyle #food

Arts and Handicrafts at Garuda Mall

Arts and Handicrafts at Garuda Mall

Arts and Handicrafts at Garuda Mall There was an Arts and Handicraft exhibition at The Garuda Mall, Magrath Road on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of September, and it included  innumerable artists that presented their work. It was a delight for our eyes. Every artist had tried to introduce very unique ideas to the market. The most unique stall for me was — The Gift Cottage, by P. Aanchal Mehta. She’s a curator as well as a designer. She comes up with different gifting concepts, and also sometimes outsources her ideas to bring them to life. Her dad was so thrilled about his daughter’s achievements as she makes him immensely proud. We wish her all the best for her future endeavors! Some artist’s works can’t be described by words. Don’t believe me? Take a look at them yourself. Reverse glass painting technique Art inspired by Aghoris of Kashi Puppets Customisable accessories and dream catchers by Laba collections Home decor made with clay Handwork artisans Intricate pencil art Our inspiration for the day was Mr. Ganapathi S Hegde, an artist, a member of Karnataka Lalitakala Academy, and a Research and Development employee at BEML. He takes art classes for engineers at BEML. He wants to relieve their stress and give them scope for creativity. We hope this blog was inspiring! Section 377 is now History: LGBTQ Community Came Forward to Celebrate the Victory of Love in India Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders and Queers in India faced many illegal and social disturbances from the society. They often faced rejection, failure and non-acceptance from their own family and communities. However, homosexuality is no more a crime in India nor a mental disorder or unnatural. After years of struggle, the supreme court of India has overruled its own decision and took down the section 377 in India. To take this celebration forward and in order to support the victory of love in India, fever nights organized a party for the LGBTQ Community at the Sutra Lounge, Lalit Ashok Bangalore. Ferver nights, known for their amazing parties, venues and DJ’s, have been organizing gay parties since 10 years in Bangalore and with the eradication of 377, a lot of people in and around Bangalore came out in numbers to mark this celebration with immense joy and happiness. This consisted of lesbians, gays, transgenders, bisexuals and many straight people who wanted to express their love and solidarity. The mood was of an overwhelming celebration. Rainbow flags waved above the crowd, enthusiasm filled up the air and people danced in the tunes with their fellow beings. The crowd itself was just incredible and prejudices and inhibitions were left behind. Fine Arts with Fine Coffee | Kashi Art Cafe

Fine Arts with Fine Coffee | Kashi Art Cafe

Metaphorically speaking, Kashi Art Cafe in Kochi embodies the feeling of being Zen. As sublime as it can get, Kashi cafe is a place where one can enjoy great food with tastefully curated pieces of art the surrounds the space. Nestled in the charming burger street, Kashi Art Cafe is a gem of a place started by Anoop Scaria & Dorrie Younger in an old Dutch house in 1977. The house was renovated to its present aesthetically-pleasing form in 2012 by Edgar Pinto, who then took up the ownership of the cafe. On a pleasantly bright day, if one is in fort Kochi, they can undoubtedly head to Kashi café. It can be an introverts rendezvous or a great choice of place for a cozy hangout spot for friends! There is a generous amount of light that fills in the semi-courtyard like setting with wooden chairs and tables infused with a cozy-casual vibe along with tasteful melodies playing in the background. As charming as the ambiance is, the food does not disappoint either! The café has been known to serve fine-fresh food, mainly breakfast /brunch/evening munchies. Popular choices of the people in the café are those delicious sandwiches which are made out of Freshly home-baked bread and cheese with strong coffee and various detoxifying drinks. The cuisine might feel limited to some but options are still many and the taste is just as exuberant as the setting itself. While one is at the cafe, they can’t help but admire the art instillation put up by the local artists which adds a niche to the place. Most of the artworks seem like a representation of the present world with an insight hidden wanting to be discovered and talked about by the visitors. Admirers of the place aren’t any less, it is often visited by many well recognized people, and artists from different countries exhibit their works of art every now and then.
