Khi Khi New Delhi- Modern Indian Cuisine Meets Chic Vibes

Khi Khi New Delhi- Modern Indian Cuisine Meets Chic Vibes

Khi Khi isn’t just any Indian restaurant that is settled in the heart of Delhi’s Vasant Vihar market. It is a burst of colour, creativity, and deliciousness, giving you an experience that means more than just having a meal or a drink. From the moment you walk into Khi Khi, the ambience whisks you away from monotony. Khi Khi Ambience: Pop Art With An Indian Touch The first thing that you see as you walk in is the vibrant décor. There are pop-art murals splashed across the walls, quirky lighting, and contemporary seating arrangements—this is a feast to the eyes even before you get your hands on the menu. The overall vibe is quite trendy yet warm and inviting, making it the perfect place for a night out with friends or a special date night. The Menu: Khi Khi’s menu was something that I haven’t come across in any other dining places. The menu was named ‘KhiKhizine’. There was a note from the editor that said the Khi Khi literally meant giggles in Hindi. The note mentioned how proud they were about their core values and authenticity in serving their customers. The note also had a tagline saying that ‘Happy hours redefined’, well, weren’t they true about that too! And also, according to them, it is mind-blowing to see how quirky the whole menu is. It had the most quirky F&B names for everything. So without further ado, let’s go over the items on my list that Tarun Sibal’s menu has to offer! Drinks To Slurp: HHH Sour (Homemade, Handmade and Handcrafted): The name itself made me choose the drink; it was absolutely intriguing! The drink includes gin, Limoncello liquer (homemade), honey and vegan foam! The rink was given an aesthetic with lemon candy on the rim. The drink was served in a really decorated coupe. BIG Batch Frozen Martini: The drink comes in a transparent coupe with a mix of Bombay Sapphire gin, Sauvignon Blanc wine, some infused bitters, Lychee shrub and a generous amount of Martini fiero. Yumm! Chakotra: In Hindi, chakotra is the name of grapefruit, and this drink was citrusy and absolutely a pleasure in every drop. A drink with mezcal, grapefruit, fresh lime juice and sugarcane juice.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by TheStyle.World (@thestyle.world) Time To Eat: The food at Khi Khi was just phenomenal and every Indian dish was taken a step above with small twists in the manner of cooking and presentation. Let us take a ride through all the wonderful finger-licking vegetarian and non-vegetarian items on the menu. Galouti Kebab: The Lucknowy style of kebab making just took a new turn at Khi Khi! Different varieties of vegetarian options are mixed and cooked together. Soya Chaap: The most versatile vegetarian food is soya! Your taste buds can go for a ride when you get to taste the soya chaap! Even if you are not a vegetarian, you will definitely fall for this dish! Rosetti Spinach Chaat: Spinach leaves dipped in batter and fried up! Your greens just looked delicious and yes, they were really crunchy and should be on your must-have list. A perfect snack for your evening at KHI KHI. Roasted Beets Salad: A colourful and mighty salad with the main ingredient being Beetroot. The salad was dressed in an elegant manner and presented with many textures and flavours. To know more about this one, all you need to do is scoop out a spoonful and have your mouth full! Mushroom Chettinaad (Open Bao): Chettinad cuisine originally comes from the Chettinad region of Tamil Nadu, India. It is well-known for its food’s bold and spicy flavour combinations, which are the result of a special spice blend. That’s what they did in this dish too and what was the star of the dish? Mushrooms marinated with all the spices and served in an open bao (That was a brilliant twist!) Kaladi Cheese Olive Bread: Kaladi is a ripened cheese bread made from cow or buffalo milk. The flat bread is a French addition to the recipe. Chicken Churrasco: The grilled chicken can never be wrong! Every piece was a perfect bite, with a blast of flavour from the marinade and grilling. Giving the Indian chicken tandoori a South American twist! Pathar Gosht: This is a must if you are at Khi Khi! It is a popular mutton fry dish and it is significantly cooked on a hot stone. The marinated meat was fragrant and it just slipped from my tongue into my throat. It was definitely a flavour powerhouse. This dish is worth exploring! Kulcha daal with mixed seed Missi Roti: The dish was absolutely unforgettable. The kulcha was laced with flax and sunflower seeds. It was served with a dal, and a green chutney. Desserts: Cream Roll: I went on a nostalgia road trip as I saw those cream rolls right in front of me. The taste texture look—everything was just brilliant! Chocolate Mousse: Abolutely delicious! You must devour this salted chocolate one if you really want to feel fulfilled with your dining out at Khi Khi! Baked Riccota Cake: The dessert is served with a dark fruit jam and a Gud toffee. Perfection! Khi Khi was a place where you could go have a great time with your friends or even if you were on a date. It is a place where you can revive your memories of having your favourite food with an ambience that speaks for itself! I had a great time here and yes, I really wish to come back here soon!   Disclaimer: This is a personal dining experience of Ms. Shrishti Jaiswal, Editor in Chief

Taj Palace New Delhi, Loya’s Drink Delights

Taj Palace New Delhi, Loya’s Drink Delights

869Taj Palace, New Delhi, Loya, has a jewel of attraction inside it. The restaurant  is a culinary excellence that takes you through the journey of taste in North India. While expertly prepared dishes take centre stage, a perfectly composed drink can elevate the entire experience. To quench your thirst and tempt your taste buds, Loya offers a unique drink menu that deserves a look. Let’s dive into the world of drinks at Loya and find out what hidden gems359 await. Taj Palace, New Delhi, Loya’s Drinks Story: Before I even take you into the drinks section, let me share with you the part where the magical concoction takes place. The Loya bar! It is a magnificent part of the restaurant and without a doubt, it is the first thing you will lay your eyes on as you enter the restaurant. Loya’s Bar: You can see the mixologist working up on their magic in front of your eyes. The Bar is a magnificent and lit area with a backdrop on numerous magical vials of drinks. and when you sit at the bar, the aesthetic will blow your mind. The bar counter has its own waterfall. The entire bar theme revolves around music and water. I was even amazed to see a whisky glass shaped like a flowing water stream. Cocktail Menu Concept: The drinks at Taj Palace, New Delhi, Loya, have a wonderful concept well illustrated for the drinks that you can try according to your mood, feelings and even personality. The concept is called S.P.I.C.E. (scale, pitch, instrumental, chords and expression). Scale: In music, scale is the foundation of every song. The 8 prominent key notes make up every single symphony and keeping that in mind, the mixologists have created 2 major cocktails with 8 key elements. Pitch: The High and low notes of music has inspired the combination of these cocktails. High-pitched notes represent vibrant and invigorating drinks and low-pitched notes represent the depth and richness of the drinks. Instrumentation: Just like in a symphony, many instruments are used in the same manner for making the cocktail: shakers are the drumbeat, spoons are the batons, glasses are the stage, and strainers are the harmonious tunes. All of these are collectively making a symphony. Chords: There are 3 distinct notes in a musical chord, and 2 inspirational cocktails are made using this as inspiration. Expression: When music and emotions meet, you get melodies and lyrics. That is why the specialists have taken inspiration from this and created 2 signature cocktails. Time for the drinks: Welcome Drinks: The first drink of the evening was the welcome drink that was given to us, the Jaljeera drink! It was very refreshing and it was in miniature Campa bottles. Super cute! Ara: From the S.P.I.C.E. concept menu, we ordered Ara (Scale)! The drink is an amalgamation of tequila, Marsa fermented rice beer, guava liqueur, and pickled guava. The glass was lined with Pahadi salt around the rim and a block of ice. The taste? It was lip-smacking and perfect until the last drop. Haldi: Another drink from the S.P.I.C.E. concept Gin with Haldi (turmeric) along with a sweet-spicy concoction of ginger jaggery syrup and a tang of lemon juice! The drink hits all the right chords of your senses! Woody Manhattan: If you are looking for a deep baritone of flavour with a hint of spunk in the S.P.I.C.E. concept (instrumentation), then Woody Manhattan is your drink! Strong base of Scotch whisky vermouth grapefruit’s bitterness and smoke of apple wood. You can almost smell it through the box that it comes in. A strong drink in a vintage locked box—it was really something!   Patria’s Martini: S.P.I.C.E. concept-based drinks were really some special ones and yes, I went on to get another one from me in the menu (Instrumentation). Patrias Martini is the drink that you can have and feel the royalty slurping down your throat. It was brought to us in a chalice! It is a must-have on your drinks list as it is a gin-based drink infused with gin, aged vermouth and pickled capers.   Loya Zero Proof: Sunrise to Sunset: I indulged myself into tasting the mocktails as well. And one of them was Sunrise to Sunset, a perfect mix of pomegranate juice and mango puree. It had the tang of lemon with the zing of the soda and the freshness of basil syrup.   Tamarind Fennel Soda: Sourness of tamarind, balanced with the subtle fennel syrup, was the hero of this drink. The drink also had orange essence and bubling lemon soda. What a sip to take! Taj Palace, New Delhi, Loya, gave me a grand memory to remember for a very long time. The food was definitely fabulous and so were the drinks. Every drink has its own story, mix, flavour and presentation too! My bags will be packed all over again just to have these drinks all over again! In a nutshell, I would say that this place is definitely the one that you must visit and yes, drink responsibly!     Disclaimer: This review is based on the personal taste and choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks by Ms. Shrishti Jaiswal, Editor in Chief.

Loya, Taj Palace, New Delhi : Iconic Dining Experience

Loya, Taj Palace, New Delhi : Iconic Dining Experience

Loya, Taj Palace, and New Delhi Loya, in Taj Palace, New Delhi was nothing less than a remarkable place and the dining experience was totally iconic. The drink menu was exceptional, as was the food. But before I even go to that, I will share with you the grandeur of that place! Unlike my Bangalore experience, this one was indoors, and the journey of this epic dining experience starts right from the entrance. The ambience is mesmerising even before you enter the dining area; the white flooring and subtle botanical touch are just fabulous! The Restaurant As you enter the restaurant, you cannot remove your eyes from the magnificent surroundings, and the bar has its own waterfall! That is basically the first thing you see when you enter. Now, when it comes to the menu, Loya-Taj Palace, New Delhi, has proved that North Indian traditional food is not just dal makhni with tandoori roti! It is so much more than that. There is food from the foothills of Himachal, tang from Punjab and, not to forget, sweetness from Kashmir. they gave us a tour of ambience. The walls and stones used inside were of specific significance; they were very earthy and very much North Indian. There were traditional North Indian paintings and a very cosy vibe. And as expected, service and hospitality are exceptional—just at the Taj level.   How do they cook the traditional way? Dhungar: When your food is cooked in this manner, you get a kindled coal fragrance to your buttery umami flavours. Usually, coal is used to add flavour to your feast. Dhungar basically means smoking. Bhagar: When various spices are bloomed in hot, savoury ghee for tempering and poured right over your food, that is called Bhagar! Sigdi: Ever felt why food in typical villages is so finger-licking? Well, when your food is cooked over coal, wood or cow dung cakes, you get that earthy gaon ka taste! Dum: When the food is kept in a pot and sealed tightly on top to be cooked for many hours, that is your dum! And to maximise taste retention in your mouth, all the food is made in traditional earthen and metal pots. And to see the magic that happens while cooking is right in front of you! Yes, you can have a view of your food making as there is an open kitchen to look at! On the table: In any typical north Indian traditional home, you will have your food on earthen or copper plates. A colourful table napkin leaves a feeling of nostalgia from your mummy ke kitchen ka cloth! Though the restaurant had lavish styling, the feel of sitting and having food there was absolutely homely! And after being seated in such a great ambience, I was ready to devour the delectable menu right away! Starters: Daal ki Chaat: Crisps made of Gehun (wheat) paratha and besan, served at your table with garlic nibs along with chilli oil. The taste was absolutely refreshing and the garlic added the right amount of punch to the chaat. Kauni Ke Kabab: A crisp kachori with peas, anardana, and the spicy saunth ki chutney. This one just brings you back to your roots. Sigdi Macchi: These were the spicy tikkas made with sole river fish made in Wari. Absolutely unforgettable! Paneer Teen Mirch: A paneer dish that literally melts in your mouth and has that punch of spice from those chilies, capsicum and crushed kali mirch (black pepper). This will definitely open all your senses! Loya Specials: Multani Gobhi: The entire cauliflower was marinated in clay and roasted well so that all the florets were cooked and roasted inside. This is definitely the most innovative concept! Gosht ke lazeez peshiyan: Special cuts of mutton smoked with charcoal and had the tempered taste of stone flower and kebab chini spice.     View this post on Instagram   A post shared by TheStyle.World (@thestyle.world) Main Course: Surkh Sabzi, loya kadhi: A mixed vegetable dish served hot with kadhi and the mix of vegetables included Lotus stem, Colocasia, Cauliflower, Carrots, and Beans. Kathal Baingan Bharta: Even though the combination of brinjal and jackfruit as one dish sounds not so usual, it is a must-try on my list! Masaledar Bhindi: The regular ladyfinger can be served like this and I was more than just amazed!  Stir the fried ladyfinger with brown onions, tomato and cashew paste, along with some ladyfinger crisps. Dum Nalli: Slow-cooked baby lamb shanks in yoghurt with a stock gravy infused with spices. Bhaddu Murg: When you have a chicken cooked to the bone in a Bhaddu with some flower spice and a few other spices,. Dessert: Nawanshahr Katira Phirni : A finger-licking sweet dish that is a combination of custard phirni, gulab jamun, ice cream, dry fruits and gond katira. The gulab jamun just melts in your mouth and the dry fruits add the right amount of crunch to the dessert. Badana Pearls: Luxurious sweet pearls served in a wonderful box in which the rabri and saffron foam is placed along with chopped up dry fruits. Doodh jalebi: Jalebi with dates, pista and kesar milk is something you cannot miss out! Give your dining experience a grand ending with this dish. Kulfi Popsicle: Kulfis are made in the manner of popsicles and there were so many flavours that I couldn’t resist myself from trying a few! Mouth freshener: After all that exciting menu gulped down to the stomach, one must get the palette refreshed. and Taj Loya gives you the opportunity to do it yourself! DIY mouth freshener! The dining experience at Taj Loya Palace in New Delhi was nothing less than a luxurious ride through the multitudes of tastes, textures and foods. The service, hospitality and regal features never disappoint me. The entire team of Loya- Dilbar Singh Rawat (Head Mixologist), Divya Mamgain (Associate), Gagan Sikka (Sous Chef—creator of the entire dining menu), Dheeraj (Bartender) and Suryadeep (Restaurant Manager) made sure that my time spent here

Green Mantis: All Day Unique Asian Vegetarian Menu

Green Mantis: All Day Unique Asian Vegetarian Menu

Located in New Delhi’s Khan Market, Green Mantis cafe and bar deviates from the capital’s usual Asian fare by offering a fully vegetarian menu that includes flavours from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Japan and many more places. Green Mantis at Khan Market deviates from the usual Asian fare by offering a vegetarian, plant-based menu. And here is what we had: Green Mantis Location and Ambience: Located on the side streets of Khan Market, on the ground floor, stepping into Green Mantis silences the hustle and bustle of the market as soon as I enter. Small square frames decorate the wood-panelled walls on either side of the staircase, and vibrant fabrics line the seat’s walls after that. The love for green is quite obvious at first glance. Potted plants rise against the corners, upholstered wooden chairs and a sofa provide seating, and bright paintings inspired by nature stand out against the white brick wall. Of course, the visible green cricket pitch complements the cosy setting, and I simultaneously absorbed the zen all around me. Drinks, Starters and main course: Green Mango Togarashi: I began by ordering a drink: Green Mango Togarashi (you can also call it Aam Panna) with traditional Japanese Togarashi flakes (Shichimi flakes). The spicy Aam panna drink features an umami twist, giving the concoction a sweet, roasted, almost earthy flavour. Passion Fruit Peach Mint:  That tag of passion fruit, sweetness from peach and refreshing mint were mixed in one super drink. In the musty heat of New Delhi, this was a must-have. Raw Chilli Mango: This combination of raw mango and chilli is a flavour explosion waiting to happen. The tangy spiciness of ripe mango playfully meets the fiery heat of chilli, creating a sweet and spicy dance on the tongue. It’s a classic street food experience—an uplifting moment that’s both refreshing and addictive, leaving you yearning for more. A quick and tasty side dish full of fresh summer vibes. The natural sweetness of the corn meets the caramelised depth of the shallots. This simple side dish brightens up any meal. Forget plain corn! This dish uses shallots to open up the flavour to a new level, caramelising their sweetness with the corn for a pleasant surprise. Ema Danchi Ting No Ema Danchi Ting No is a spicy Bhutanese dish made with Ema (chilli), Datsi (cheese) and other vegetables. It is a very common dish in Bhutan and it might be something that you must try. Gunman Maki Sushi and Midori Roll Sushi: Gunman maki Sushi was definitely special! A terriffic compilation of Nori pickled vegetables, avacado, wasabi peas and wasabi Mayo. Midori Roll Sushi was a tangy spinach and cucumber pickled roll, giving your taste buds a roll for the texture. Tofu Bao Tofu bao is a blank canvas for your taste buds. Fill them with delicious sauces, pickled vegetables and fresh herbs for a good bite. Pillow-like steamed buns filled with salty tofu. A handheld taste experience is perfect for a quick lunch or a satisfying snack. Kirk Dimsum It is a dish that just bursts into flavour in your mouth in one bite. Oyster Motoyaki They are made from royal oyster mushrooms and have a meaty texture similar to oysters. Tear them into bite-sized pieces and marinate them in a light soy sauce or vegetable broth for added flavour. With vegan mayonnaise. Jackfruit Rendang: Jackfruit rendang is a vegan version of the classic Indonesian dish rendang, which traditionally uses beef. Jackfruit, with its fleshy texture when young and ripe, is an excellent substitute that soaks up the rich and flavorful rendang curry beautifully. Curry Dagang A delicious tofu curry with fenugreek and ginger-scented rice is served to wake up all your senses to a new tasteful world. Kelepong  Ending with dessert is the sweetest note for a wonderful meal. Crispy sticky rice with caramelised coconut, and it gives you a coconut jaggery ice cream.   When it comes to the food at Green Mantis, it is 70% vegan and 100% vegetarian. The USP of the Green Mantis is that every ingredient is bought locally. There are many Asian restaurants in Delhi, but almost none of them offer a vegetarian menu. That is why the Green Mantis wants to stand out as an exception. And the experience of having wonderful vegan and vegetarian food was simply amazing.     Disclaimer: This is a personal dining experience of Ms. Shrishti Jaiswal. The Beauty of Sustainable Fashion

The name Ashdeen Lilaowala is renowned as a textile designer who creates beautiful paintings with a thread and needle. A Master at presenting the Parsi Gara embroidery in all its colourful and creative glory, Ashdeen’s collection “Memories on Cloth” at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 was not only an exquisite vision of embroidered beauty but excellent craftsmanship amalgamated with contemporary style. With 150 craftsmen Ashdeen’s studio in New Delhi is the hub for the gorgeous embroidery that he is known for. The silhouettes were kept simple and elegant allowing the motifs to do all the talking. The hand embroidery featured the beauty of flora and fauna, which has been the distinct characteristic of the Parsi Gara craft. The popular motifs of bows, roosters, birds and butterflies came alive on the fabrics as they flitted over the garments. Ashdeen added another traditional embellishment, which is the lace that was popular, as an edging for the sacred undergarment the ‘sudreh’ worn by the Parsis. The beauty of this lace was seen on the ensembles, which brought to the forefront, the message of celebrating sustainable development goals by combining craft with culture. An alluring, one-shoulder blouse covered in self-hued sequins was contrastingly teamed with a voluminous lehenga, that featured hand embroidered motifs like the bird of paradise, roosters and butterflies. The look was completed with a black dupatta placed neatly around the neck and tied at the back. Ashdeen Lilaowala’s “Memories on Cloth” was a timeless collection that will be cherished by connoisseurs of beauty and craft through times immemorial. The House of Three that stands for Mind, Body and Soul has followed a philosophy of western fashion with an Indian Soul that was brought to Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020. The brand is the brainchild of Sunak Sen Barat and Anu Shyamsunder, both graduates of National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi. Their vision was to present a marriage of contrasts to the contemporary Indian and that is just what their collection “Kumarikandam” was all about. The brand brought on the ramp the glorious textiles of two states – West Bengal and Tamilnadu and displayed the expert weaves of three fabulous Master Weavers – Rajib Debnath from West Bengal, Satya from Kanchipuram and Santaanam from Kumbakoram, Tamilnadu. Rajib Debnath’s label Tantajo that supports the livelihood of 450 families of master weavers, dyers and spinners is known for his superfine Bengal cotton, Jamdaani muslin that was used by the House of Three in 100 to 300 counts and reinvented with indigo and yarn dyes. The muslin came in printed Khadi versions or some with Jamdaani, jacquard weaves and check patterns. Muslin was also woven in different types of checks and at times printed for added interest. The weaves from Tamilnadu revolved around the luxurious silk Kanjivaram fabrics, which are the treasured textiles of the state. They were woven into geometric, graphic, checks and stripes and then appliquéd with jamdaani motifs. Temple borders Kolum and Alpona motifs were blended with prints and embroidery creating contrasting yet common elements. A gorgeous ivory, midi skirt with appliqué and fringe details having scalloped lace trim at the hemline, adorned with minimal sequin work was styled with an ivory Kanjeevaram saree. A secondary line of fabrics like linen and viscose jersey appeared to add a variety to the creations. The colour story opted, was pastels with inspirations from the ocean, for blue, aqua, yellow, orange and red. While the Kanjivarams were predominantly in a black and white combo with bursts of colour blocking, the muslin collection had rainbow hues for the embellishments. In the 22 pieces collection, the label added a couple of men’s wear that comprised a mulmul shirt with a Khadi day suit, mulmul kurta, Khadi double-breasted bundi with smoking jacket lapels, wide-leg double pleated pants and churidars. Social activist and multi-lingual cine star, Siddharth walked the ramp for the label in a peach kurta with playful, checked sleeves teamed with a black and white Kanjivaram Nehru jacket featuring mustard detailing on the flap pockets. The look was completed with a scarf jauntily wrapped around the neck. The pert and pretty actress and musician, Saba Azad strutted down the runway in a white Jamdaani mini with a ruffled bib interest on the bodice. The “Kumarikandam” collection for Summer/Resort 2020 from the House of Three was all about fashion that amalgamated the best from the West with the traditions and heritage of India’s culture that will definitely thrill fashion followers.
